Tap Tempo: find the tempo by tapping
When you know how it sounds but not the number, tap the beat and let Cadence Metronome work out the BPM.
What it is
Tap Tempo lets you set the tempo by tapping a button in time with the music, instead of guessing a number. The app measures the time between your taps and turns it into BPM (beats per minute).
Step by step
- Open Cadence Metronome and find the Tap Tempo button.
- Tap the button in time with the beat you want, one tap per pulse. Two taps already give you a first reading.
- Keep tapping a few more beats: the app averages your taps to refine the tempo and smooth out small inconsistencies.
- When the number settles, stop tapping. That's your tempo, ready to use.
Tips
- Tap quarter notes (the main pulse), not subdivisions, so the BPM comes out right.
- Four to eight taps are enough for a stable reading; more taps, more accuracy.
- If you slip, pause for a moment and start again: the app resets the average.
- You can fine-tune the value afterward with the BPM dial, from 20 to 300.
